As you know, negotiations between CWA and Frontier Communications began on August 20th, 2024. As we continue to bargain and move towards contract expiration, we continue to remind Frontier that we have been a dedicated workforce and will continue to contribute to the success of Frontier Communications. We have worked through the Frontier Bankruptcy and now we will be dealing with the Verizon acquisition in the near future. We must achieve a fair and equitable contract that provides job security and maintains the pension and medical benefits that we have fought to keep for many years.
A strong strike authorization vote lets Frontier management know our members are ready to do what it takes to get a good contract. The CWA Constitution requires a Strike Authorization Vote from members before a strike can be called. If a majority of members at Frontier vote “Yes,” the CWA Executive Board is authorized to call a strike should this become necessary.
CWA Local 1298 will conduct a vote of its membership from October 15th - 17th and announce the results on October 18th. The vote will be held electronically via our website. The instructions on how to vote electronically are outlined at the bottom of this letter.
Should a strike become necessary the Executive Board voted in 2018 to increase the CWA Local 1298 supplemental Member Relief Fund by $100 which will now provide a striker benefit of $300 per/week beginning on the 1st day of strike thru the 14th day of strike.
Without a strong strike vote, we are sending our Bargaining Committee to do a job without any back-up. A weak vote is a signal to Frontier management that we are willing to take whatever they give us. It is every member’s responsibility to actively support the Bargaining Committee during this time. Remember, UNITED WE BARGAIN, DIVIDED WE BEG!!

- Beginning October 15th through the 17th visit www.cwa1298.org and click on “STRIKE VOTE” link.
- Enter your individualized pin number from this letter and choose yes or no in the drop down then click submit.
- After casting your vote, please return to CWA 1298 home page. Click on “MEMBER RELIEF FUND CERTIFICATION FORM”, fill out in its entirety and click submit. This form is required to receive your weekly strike benefits.
