On Sunday, June 19th, we not only celebrate Father's Day, but we also celebrate Juneteenth. This holiday celebrates not only ending slavery, but the actual freeing of the last slaves in the United States. This holiday is considered the longest-running African-American holiday and is considered by many in the African-American community as a second Independence Day as it marked the end of slavery on our shores. In 2021, President Joe Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday. This weekend, let us honor the spirit of the holiday and use this as a day to support African-American-owned businesses in our community and learn more about the history and culture in our communities.

I also want to wish all of the Father's a Happy Father's Day. Enjoy time with your kids and grandkids.
