AT&T has notified the union that Allsup, AT&T's agent for Medicare conversion,  will be surveying retirees to identify if any retirees or their dependent have become disabled and entitled to Medicare since retirement.  This project is an every other year event, the last solicitation was in 2013. According to AT&T, Allsup’s service is to aid retirees and their dependents that may have become eligible for Medicare prior to the age of 65, with the Medicare enrollment process.  They then update AT&T records showing Medicare as the primary payer of medical claims and the AT&T medical plan as secondary payer.  In all regions, Allsup will solicit the applicable retirees.  Initial letters will be mailed starting April 6, 2015 through July 20, 2015.  East retirees will receive their mailing in June. The letters explain Allsup’s services and include a questionnaire that requests personal information to determine if a retiree or dependent is eligible for Medicare.  Allsup’s service is voluntary and there is no cost to the retiree. Approximately 67,000 retirees will receive a letter.
