District 1 has helped put recent developments regarding the Frontier acquisition into perspective.   The recent approval by the FTC to  allow early termination of the prescribed waiting period for Frontiers acquisition of AT&T is based on the fact that this acquisition will not pose any anti-trust threats.  In other words, the FTC has found that there are no anti-competitive effects on U.S. commerce, and therefore poses no anti-trust threats on the parties markets.   As previously reported, the deals still requires FCC approval and the transaction must also be pursued and approved at PURA (The Public Utility Regulatory Authority at the State of CT).  This is where the action will be and CWA intends to actively participate in those hearings to protect the interest of our members.
