The union met with Frontier Communications yesterday regarding recent changes to the FMLA process that have caused some disruption in the workplace.  The union identified several key process problems and changes to the process that have been of concern to us: Medical Certification It was identified that employees who have medical certification already approved with AT&T will not have to re-certify, although the data for these certifications is not available at Prudential. When calling Prudential to report the use of intermittent FMLA, members who are already certified need only self-identify that their medical certification is in place,  and provide basic information so that Prudential can load this in the system – symptoms may be requested by Prudential, State Law does not require  diagnosis.  The issues that the union identified and being reviewed include: Timeliness of response and payment from Prudential/Frontier for intermittent FMLA Approved disability should run concurrently with FMLA without need for member to apply. Frontier’s minimum requirement of 48 hours to report FMLA . Prudential requesting diagnosis to approve FMLA- the State law provides that requesting symptoms is ok but not diagnosis. Frontier is currently reviewing this and has promised to respond. Frontier acknowledged our concerns and promised to work diligently to correct them.  If you have any problems or questions regarding  FMLA  please call union headquarters Union Disability Group for assistance, 203-288-5271.
