A message from President Dave Weidlich
Today the results of the Strike Authorization Vote were calculated and 95% of the voting members overwhelmingly supported a YES vote. This gives the bargaining committee the leverage we need to secure a fair and just agreement. This afternoon the bargaining committee decided that with many important issues still unresolved, it would be in our best interest to secure a 90 day extension to January 18th 2025. This extension preserves Arbitration and the Guaranteed Job Offer, both are not covered while working without a contract. Over the next 90 days we will continue working to resolve our issues with the security provided by a 90 day expiration extension. This is especially important with the potential Verizon merger in the future. This extra time will allow us to continue pursuing our goals at the bargaining table. Outsourcing/ Contractors, Wages, Benefits, and Job Security remain major unresolved items.
Stay tuned for further information as it relates to mobilization. We are grateful for all the work everyone has done so far. This has been a very slow process, but we know this deadline extension protects our members. We certainly know how and when to escalate our mobilization. Stay tuned for another report next week.
A special thank you to our Election Committee members, Diana Delgado, Tishema Hobby-Carter and Dave Barbar, for conducting our Strike Vote.
