Thomas E. Mendez Jr., 61, of Wallingford, passed away June 13, 2021, at MidState Medical Center.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen P. Mendez; his two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael L. Mendez, and Thomas J. and Maria Mendez; his mother, Saturnina G. (Mrs. Tomás) Mendez; his granddaughters, Natalia, Kalie and Avery Mendez; his sister and brother-in-law, Ilean and James E. Narrow; his nephew, James S. Narrow; Matt Smith who he thought of as another son; and many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Tomás E. Mendez Sr.

He was born in Meriden, CT, February 28, 1960, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves, holding the rank of Sergeant. Tom worked for Frontier Communications for 38 years. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and fighter. Through his battles with his illness, Tom was one with Christ. He always maintained his positive attitude through his fight and never let his conditions control him.

Tom left us with a few of his most memorable quotes;

Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Thursday, July 1st, from 10 to 11:30am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11:30am. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
