Calling hours be Sunday from 3-6 p.m., at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Funeral services will be held Monday January 25, 2010, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Artists Collective Inc., 1200 Albany Ave., Hartford, CT. 06112 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

DANAHY, Thomas M. Thomas M. Danahy, 50, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday (January 17, 2010), at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a one and half year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and longtime partner Valerie Gudeahn. Tom was born November 14, 1959, in Hartford, son of Martin T. Danahy and Mary Lou Morrison-Danahy of Manchester. Tom lived in Manchester for the past 45 years. He Graduated with High Honors from Manchester High School and attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. He was a valued employee of AT & T for the last 20 years. Tom was gifted intellectually, artistically and musically. He began the study of violin at the age of seven, but later developed a passion for jazz piano. He spent many hours jamming with fellow musicians and countless hours entertaining friends and family with his improvisations and Joplin rags. Tom was a very quiet person but once you got to know him he had a wonderful dry wit. He also greatly enjoyed walking his Siberian Husky "Sapphire" especially going to the South Windsor dog park. In addition to his parents and partner Valerie, Tom is survived by his sister, Kim Gudeahn of Manchester; two brothers, Andrew Danahy also of Manchester, Matthew Danahy of New York City; two aunts, Dorothy Sanders of Glastonbury, Betty Wilson of Manchester; three uncles, Neil Danahy and Kenneth Wilson both of Manchester, Charles Morrison of Glastonbury; many cousins and a special friend of Tom and his family, Barbara Washburn of Manchester. Tom had a very special and loving relationship with Valerie's two children, Taylor and Noressa Gudeahn-Alleno of Poland, ME. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
