Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St., Waterbury, with the Rev. Valerie Maness officiating. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hour will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service and at all other times at his home.
WATERBURY — Mr. Charles E. "Stabo" Styles, 69, of 411 Frost Road, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gloria O. (Davis) Styles.
Charlie was born Nov. 27, 1940, in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Helene Marie (Copeland) Styles. He was educated in the Waterbury school system and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Mr. Styles retired from SBC/AT&T after 39 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing six sons, John (Deanna) Davis, Waverly (Teesha) Battle and Torrence Battle, all of Waterbury, Charles Styles Jr. of Virginia, Alex Styles and Brandon Styles of North Carolina; two daughters, Shawnda (Derrick) King of Texas and Lisa Styles of Virginia; nine grandchildren, one brother, Rev. Richard (Helen) Styles of North Carolina; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Charlie known for his quick humor and always happy face is a retiree from SNET/SBC/AT&T and long standing CUTW / CWA Member.
