Wake and Funeral Info

Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Church, Baltic Road, Occum, meeting directly at the church. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, P.O. Box 256, Versailles, CT 06383.

Paul Chmielewski October 7, 1940 - July 30, 2010 Norwich - Paul A. Chmielewski, 69, husband of Dorothy (Pendleton) Chmielewski of 306 Old Canterbury Tpke., Norwich, died Friday at Backus Hospital. Born in Norwich on October 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Kolodziej) Chmielewski. He was a Vietnam Veteran having been honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal from the U.S. Marines. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a technician with S.N.E.T. Co. Paul started at SNET as an installer / repairman in Norwich and after a few years became a Frame Attendent then went on to Central Office Tech. Paul retired from SNET in 1996.
 He was a member of the Yantic Vol. Fire Co., the Polish Legion of American Veterans, the Montville Polish Club, and the A.T. & T. Pioneers. On June 2, 1973 at St. Mary Church in Norwich, he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Pendleton) (Plante) Chmielewski who survives along with one son and daughter in law, Philip and Sharon Plante of Ansonia, one daughter and son in law Christina and John Baukus of Montville, four grandchildren Abby, Grace, David and Christopher Baukus along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Mitchell A. Chmielewski, and two sisters Jeannette Wojick and Marcella Downing.
