At Bill's request, there will be no calling hours and private services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Family Support.

William Maynes, 66, died Thursday, January 15, 2015. Born to the late Helen and Ralph Maynes, Bill was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Among the medals awarded to him were the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart. Promoted to Sergeant at a very early age, he served admirably and honorably as an infantry man with the First Calvary Division. Bill worked for American Telephone and Telegraph for 30 years before taking early retirement, leaving Vernon, CT for the beaches of Westerly, RI and later Englewood, FL. Bill leaves his son, William S. Maynes of East Windsor, CT; a daughter Darcy Zinter, her husband Steven and two grandchildren, Jackson and Scarlett, all of Springfield, MO. He also leaves his brothers, James and his wife Yvette, Gary, Larry, a sister Sue Ann Furlong and her husband Michael and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Mark.
