A Mass of Christian Burial was  held on Wednesday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Roberts Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Little Sister’s of the Poor, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082.

Mary D. (Donovan) McMullen, 87, of Windsor Locks, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on October 5, 1928, daughter of the late Michael J. Donovan and Jennie (Brogan) Donovan, Mary grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School, class of 1946. She lived in Windsor Locks for 65 years. Before retiring in 1983, she was employed by Southern New England Telephone for 25 years. Mary was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Windsor Locks. She was a member of the Catholic Council of Women and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mary enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling, Bingo, and playing cards with her dear friends.
She leaves her children, Michael J. McMullen and his wife, Debi of Easthampton, MA, William J. McMullen, John D. McMullen and his wife, Anna, Jane E. Van Allen and Mary Ann McMullen all of Windsor Locks, Dr. David W. McMullen and his wife, Kristine of West Suffield; eight grandchildren: Tracy, Stacey, Michael, Heather, Joseph, Patrick, Kelly, and Ryan, and 10 great grandchildren. Her family wishes to acknowledge the thoughts and prayers of Mary’s friends and extended family, especially Nettie Raynard, Dolores Russo, Ellen MacNamara, Irene MacMullen, and her cousins in the Emerald Isle. Mary was predeceased by her husband, John W. McMullen and her two brothers, John F. Donovan and James M. Donovan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ian Kleinhen, the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital, and the staff at Bickford’s Nursing Home for the special care provided to Mary.
