Message from President, Dave Weidlich

Today, the Supreme Court issued their decision in the Janus v. AFSCME case. The decision said that public sector unions can no longer collect fair share fees from employees that are represented by the collective bargaining agreement. While this case does not effect us directly now, it does effect many of our CWA brothers and sisters as well as those who are teachers, firemen, police officers, sanitation workers and more. It is also only a matter of time before this case will effect private sector workers like us. Below I have included a press release about a rally happening today in Hartford as well as some additional information about the case. I can not stress this enough, that in these times of unprecedented attacks on our unions, it is more important then ever to stand strong with our 1298 brothers and sisters, our CWA family, and our larger union family.

In our inaugural issue of this INSiDE WiRE, we stated that you will only be receiving this email once and in order to get it again, you must re-register on our website. Rebuilding our union wide list is going to take some time, and this is a huge effort where all the officers and shop stewards will be working very hard to accomplish. So please re-register on our website now so we can clean up this distribution list.
