William F. Henderson, CWA Local President Dave Weidlich, Plant 1 Vice President Tonya Hodges-Moore, CWA District 1 Staff Representative Gladys Finnigan, District 1 Assistant to the Vice President The above Union officers met with Frontier Communications leadership on Wednesday, May 18 in the a.m. to discuss the future of the corporation and the problems they face and suggestions of how to solve them. Frontier Communications is not going bankrupt. Their stocks have gone down due to the reduction of payments of over-priced stock dividends. They are taking the financial gain and redistributing it back in to the business. That amount from $1.8 billion to $1.2 troubled Wall Street. However, Frontier firmly believes that business dynamics are ever changing and that business has to adjust accordingly – thus, the reduction in stock dividend payment amounts. They are concentrating their focus and efforts on customer service and pricing and want to make sure their employees are used more effectively and efficiently. Hopefully customer frustration will diminish and better service will be provided with standardized business procedures in place across the country. The key to Frontier’s success will clearly be enhanced by bringing the Union on board and co-partnering with them to strategize to successfully grow the business. Going forward each region will receive monies based on what their projected and realized return are: i.e. regions who don’t produce will get less money. The Union believes that we share in the responsibility to grow the business and we should look for opportunities to enable Frontier to succeed. With that in mind, we would welcome any suggestions where we could use our union strength to promote Frontier and their products. Please call President Bill Henderson (860) 908-8680 with any suggestions. At the upcoming AFL-CIO Convention in New Haven, Frontier will have a display booth featuring “perks” to union members, including special pricing, who buy from or utilize Frontier products. There are more than 250 unions who will be present at that convention. Hopefully, this will be a successful campaign.
