Maintenance Administrator (Dispatcher) Job Description General Duties The duties of a Dispatcher include but are not limited to the following: 1.      Interpreting Mechanized Loop Testing results which involve the Screening and/or dispatching of work. 2.      Dispatching of troubles and orders or combined.  3.      Receives and processes jobs reported from customers. 4.      Performs MLT (Mechanized Loop Testing) procedures using keyboard and CRT display; also performs required database input/output functions utilizing a Remote Job Entry device. 5.      Maintains office files pertaining to customer reports and other related clerical functions. 6.      Contacts customers to check status of trouble/order prior to dispatch, to expand upon trouble description, to renegotiate commitment time. 7.      Dispatches trouble/orders by telephone to outside technician. Provides information such as customer name and address. 8.      Interacts with other departments for transfer of information required for handling customer telephone activities. 9.      Receives and records trouble clearance information from maintenance employees. 10.   Decides priority of trouble report clearance. 11.   Performs call outs to persons or other work groups or vendors to clear troubles and maintains logs of their response performance and safety. 12.   Manages various alarm conditions and refers to various work groups for clearance. I. Basic Qualifications Physical Requirements: Sitting for long periods. Performance/Attendance: (Applicable to all transfers) Satisfactory performance rating in present job. Satisfactory attendance record in present job. Specifics: 1.      40-hour week, 8 hours per day. Lunch period dependent on schedule. 2.      Rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. 3.      Assigned duties in the New Haven area are specifically concerned with an ongoing project in Dispatch Staff. 4.      Supervisors may periodically monitor telephone contacts with customers or other contacts with customers involving the transaction of company business. 5.      Overtime - frequent. II. Additional Factors Satisfactory job related performance in the following: 1.      Work Experience 2.      Training: Formal instruction of approximately three weeks. On the job instruction as required. III. Environment Works in a medium-sized, air conditioned office. Works at desk with telephone, in close proximity to fellow workers. Frequently communicates with others to complete own tasks. Spends majority of time in one position, but moves about to obtain records or other information as required in performance of duties.
