With bittersweet feelings, we lovingly wish Marilyn Madonna a happy retirement. She has been with us since 1965 when she was only 16 years old, still attending high school and went by her maiden name of Marilyn Meriano.  Although she left us briefly to have her children, she returned to Local 1298 in 1976, in total dedicating over 53 years to Local 1298. Over the years she was the first face that greeted members as they arrived at Union HQ and the friendly voice that answered our phones. We will miss all that she brought to our workplace. Although she’s worked with so many different Executive Boards and seen our membership shrink over the years from 13,000 to just over 3,000 she’s had the pleasure to work with her longtime co-workers Bettye, Laureen and Bonnie by her side. She’s always followed her own advice of “do your job well and always be kind to your bosses and co-workers”. We know her retirement will be truly amazing, especially if she puts as much effort into it as she did to keeping our Union operating.  Her dedication and team-work assisting us is truly appreciated. We wish that the many years ahead bring her all joy and relaxation, and we wish her a wonderful retirement because she will never be forgotten, missed deeply and always welcome back.
