AT&T transitioned employees  recently received notification of  a portability option for our Supplemental Life Insurance as well as an option to convert our basic life  and spousal /dependent life insurance  allowing us to continue the same life insurance benefits that we had with AT&T.  The current options that we had with AT&T have been continued at Frontier, and as explained in  previous communications can in some instances will be at higher monthly rates. For that story click here. Basic life insurance, supplemental insurance, and spousal dependent options that have been continued at Frontier for all bargaining unit members. In addition to the insurance provided by our employer Frontier, the letter from Met Life explains that individuals will be allowed to continue their life insurance policies they had with AT&T if they so choose.  The Supplemental insurance can be ported at  group rates, which will be provided by Met Life.  The basic and spousal/dependent life insurance can be continued with Met Life by being converted to individual plans.  In both cases, members are encouraged to call Met life oat the number provided on you letter before making a determination.   AT&T will on the other hand allow you to port you supplemental plan to another plan without any medical exam to a plan that has group rates. It might do you well to compare the plans  cost of AT&T's portability option vs the plan with Frontier.   The basic life insurance and spousal are not portable, therefore if converted to an individual policy will be more expensive.  You  can however find out what the policy cost to continues outside of your plans with Frontier.
