Letter from Veronica Bloodworth- EVP, Chief Network Officer to the Network Team dated 7/27/2023

I’m writing to remind you that under our existing safety practices, we offer voluntary lead testing to any employee who works with, or has worked with, lead-sheathed copper cables. Testing can be done on the clock and the company will cover the expense of testing.

Over the past few weeks, there’s been a fair amount of public discussion on this topic. To make sure the facts are front and center, USTelecom, which many of you know as our industry trade association, has put together a site with science-based information showing that the risk of lead exposure from these cables is extremely low and does not pose a safety issue.

However, we want to ensure that you feel healthy and safe. If you would like to take a test, please work with your manager to find a convenient time and testing facility. You can contact your local EHS person to find a testing facility here.

If you have any questions or issues, please reach out to our Head of Safety, Floyd (floyd.n.williams@ftr.com).
