Montville - Shane Ryan Sweeney, 20, of Oakdale, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 26, 2013, in Norwich, the victim of a single vehicle accident.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Lakes Church in Oakdale, meeting directly at church. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemtery. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville.

Shane loved animals, so, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Connecticut Humane Society, PO Box 41, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375.

He was born to James and Beth (McKechnie) Sweeney of Oakdale, on Oct. 19, 1992, in New London. Shane graduated from Montville High School in 2010 and attended Lincoln Technical Institute in New Britain.

After attending Lincoln Tech, he was employed by AT&T, where he worked as a premises technician, installing and repairing home entertainment systems and telecommunications equipment. He was described by his co-workers as a dedicated worker and was well-liked by everyone.

Besides his parents, James and Beth, he is survived by a sister, Erin Sweeney of Oakdale; two grandmothers, Eleanor Sweeney of Lewisburg, Pa., and Jeanne McKechnie of Lake Wales, Fla.; three aunts, Patricia Sweeney of Dallastown, Pa., Jacquelynn Lawrence of Lake Wales, and Karen Wescott of Mystic; an uncle, Steven Wescott of Mystic; and three cousins, Jonathan Lawrence, Raymond Wescott, and Colin Wescott, all of New London.

He was predeceased by his two grandfathers, Leo Sweeney of Lewisburg and John McKechnie of Lake Wales.

He was loved by all and is sorely missed.
