Kathleen M. Brown, born Kathleen Keating on August 25, 1944, passed away suddenly on Thursday night (August 9, 2012) at her home in West Hartford. Kathleen was one of eight children born to Raymond and Emma Keating of Yonkers, NY and the wife, of 46 years, of Jerome (Jerry) Brown with whom she had six loving children, all living in Hartford and West Hartford, and ten grandchildren. Raised in Yonkers, NY, Kathleen married Jerry Brown in 1966 and moved to Connecticut in 1969. Kathy and Jerry raised their children in Stratford until 1986 when the family moved to Meriden. After her retirement she and her husband moved to West Hartford in 2007. In West Hartford, she leaves numerous friends from the New York Sports Club and St. Thomas Church. Nothing was more precious to Kathleen than the time spent with her loving grandchildren. Kathleen was a graduate of Saint Barnabas High School in the Bronx, NY. and of Westchester Community College where she earned an associate degree in engineering. She worked for more than twenty years as a technician at AT&T and Southern New England Telephone in Bridgeport, Wallingford and then Meriden, CT. She was a proud member and steward in the Communication Workers of America union. A giving person of deep faith, Kathleen was always engaged in her community and in the Catholic Church. In Stratford she served as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician and as a Eucharistic Minister at our Lady of Peace Church. While in Meriden, she taught preschool at St. Stanislaus Parish. And in West Hartford, she was a proud member of the Parish Council at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Jerome (Jerry), and her adult children and their spouses: Jerry Jr., Edward, Melissa, Rosemary, Thomas, John, Tara, Jean, and Rich. She is also survived by her two sisters and five brothers and their spouses. Kathleen leaves behind a large and loving family including her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Kathleen was a very happy person who shared her happiness with everyone she met. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her friends and family
