On April 28, the unions of the AFL-CIO will observe Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have suffered and died on the job, and to renew the fight for safe jobs.

EACH DAY, more than 340 workers are killed and more than 6,000 suffer injury and illness because of dangerous working conditions that are preventable.

Join us on April 28 to “Mourn for the Dead and Fight for the Living.”

  • Workers Memorial Day
  • Monday, April 28th - 12:00 PM
  • Workers Memorial in Bushnell Park, 57 Trinity St, Hartford

Traditionally, we have asked our affiliates to purchase wreaths for the ceremony. While we will have a couple of wreaths again, the Health & Safety Committee is instead asking affiliates to please consider making a donation to support the nonprofit "Fighting the Good Fight on Hunger and Homelessness." It's run by retired UA Local 777 member Paul Venti and is dedicated, as the name suggests, to feeding and providing clothing to hungry and unhoused residents of Connecticut. It's a one-man show and 100% of your donations go to purchasing food and clothing.
