The CWA Local 1298 Executive Board, District One Assistant to the Vice-President Dennis Trainor, and Staff Rep Pat Telesco met with AT&T earlier this week and then  with Frontier for the past three days.  After four months of meetings and numerous requests for information; we still have very few answers.  Today, CWA walked out of the meeting with Frontier after Frontier management objected to a very simple question we had asked related to their call center presentation.  They got up and said they didn’t know if they could go on with the meeting; and all this after we have been extremely forthcoming and answered all of their questions about how our members do their work. CWA previously announced that they opposed the sale, the tide has changed and CWA will be fighting the sale of Connecticut telephone network to Frontier. It has become clear to us following this week’s presentations by Frontier Network Operations leadership and Customer Call Center leadership that the picture is not a good one for the employees, our members and the citizens and consumers in Connecticut. It appears that all of the jobs and the work done to support the Connecticut operations, some of which AT&T had moved out of our state, including their flagship Uverse product, will be done by Frontier in the Midwest and the South! In addition, it was told to us that we could talk about future support centers but only if we are interested in bargaining lower wages. We have heard enough to know where we stand.  We will be filing written testimony with PURA next week.  CWA will be talking to the FCC, and next week we will be meeting with our Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C. We have reached out to Governor Malloy, the Attorney General, PURA, the Office of Consumer Counsel and all interested parties and our message is that they need to scrutinize this deal very closely to protect our network, our economy and good job Our State Representatives are joining us in our fight and written a letter to Maggie Wilderotter, Frontier's CEO.
