Frontier Update March 9, 2014

The preliminary hearing for the Frontier / AT&T acquisition was held last week. At this session, PURA denied AT&T’s request to reconsider the designation of CWA as an intervener.  In addition, a proposed schedule was discussed we await the authorities final schedule which should be posted on their website.  PURA also asked AT&T and Frontier to agree to an extension of the statutory deadline allowing more time for the authority and the interveners to get their questions answered.  This deadline has been agreed to, and the new statutory deadline is October 3, 2014.   This new deadline merely means there is more time to gather information   in order to determine whether or not this acquisition is in the best interest of all parties concerned.    Members continue to ask when this sale will be final, and unfortunately, there is no way for the union to forecast the results or the timing of the upcoming hearings.    The union also met with AT&T Labor Relations last week and is awaiting answers to many questions.
