 HAMMER, WILLIAM J. William J. Hammer, 69, of Brunswick ME., formerly of Milford, CT, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Andrea Muhlbach Hammer for 47 years. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, May 30, 1946, a son of the late Gloria Pearson Hammer and had been a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Bill worked for SNET for 35 years as a special services technician out of the Stratford garage and was a CUTW business agent for several years until his retirement in 2004. Bill was a lifelong learner with many hobbies including but not limited to genealogy, sports, woodworking and model trains. In addition to his wife Andrea, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy (George) Becerra, Barbara (Eric) Ruys, and Sandra (Michael) Pearson; his grandchildren, Caylie, Kyle, Natalie, Katherine, Griffin, Liam, Rafe, and Odin; his sisters, Dolores Christie, Florence Bennett; and extended family and close friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Linda; brothers, Tom and Jim; and his in-laws, Robert, Richard and Mary. His family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff at MidCoast Hospital in Brunswick, the Gibson Center at Maine Medical (especially his nurse, Jared), and the Gosnell House Hospice in Scarborough for their outstanding care and guidance.
