Wake and Funeral Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 7th at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives may call at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield on Tuesday for a celebration of Tim's life from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Tim may be made to The Irish American Home Society (attn. Timothy Gilbert, 50, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Elaine (Sweeney) Gilbert, passed away suddenly on Friday (March 2, 2012) in Hartford. He was born on April 24, 1961 in Hartford, son of Thomas Frederick and Elaine (Begin) Gilbert of East Hartford. Tim graduated from George J. Penney High School in East Hartford and was self-employed prior to joining AT & T as a technician. He was a member of the Irish Club in Glastonbury for many years. Besides his wife of 24 years and parents, Tim is survived by his cherished daughters, Rebecca and Olivia Gilbert, of Wethersfield; He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends sharing his love of camping, fishing and hiking. Tim shared his skills working with his hands to make the world around him better for his family. He is also survived by siblings Thomas Gilbert and his wife Joan of Hebron, Steven Gilbert and his wife Laurie of Manchester, Sharon Thibodeau of Middletown, Christopher Gilbert and his wife Jeannine of Colchester, Sandra Signorello and her husband Paul of Wethersfield, and Paul Gilbert of Colchester; his mother-in-law Charlene Hawryluk of PA; his father-in-law Gerald Sweeney of FL; sisters-in-law Patti Kilp and her husband Steve of PA, and Michelle Wall and her husband Matt of NJ; brother-in-law Maurice Sweeney and his wife Sally. He is also survived by nine nieces, Theresa, Kaitlin, Gina, Susan, Elizabeth, Brooke, Trisha, Nicolette and Alyssa; and eight nephews, Roland, Andrew, Christopher, Paul, Nicholas, Maxwell, Kyle and Gavin. Tim also leaves his beloved godparents Camille and Lawrence Leonard of Florida and a special aunt and uncle Roland and Barbara Begin of Glastonbury as well as many special cousins.
