Marlene (Karatkiewicz) Parker, 70 of Rocky Hill, passed away at home on December 22, 2018, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer for 3 ½ years. She was married to the love of her life Darrell M. Parker for 48 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Adam, and Mother, Isabella (Festa) Karatkiewicz. Marlene grew up and attended school in Hartford with her 2 brothers. She leaves behind her Husband Darrell Parker of Rocky Hill, Daughter Alicia (Parker) Wyse and her husband Jason of East Granby, her son Mathew Parker and his wife Sharlene of Rocky Hill. She has 5 grandchildren that she loved with all her heart Schyler and Jaxson Wyse of East Granby, Mason, Tyler, and Liam Parker of Rocky Hill. She also leaves behind her brother Richard Karwic and his wife Kathleen of Wethersfield, CT and Bruce Karwic of Florida, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marlene worked for the Rocky Hill school system before working for the State of Connecticut where she retired. She loved traveling with her husband during their retirement together. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing, cooking and catching up with friends and relatives. She donated many prayer blankets to St. Francis Cancer Center and also gave as gifts to many others who are battling cancer. Her family wishes to thank all those who cared for her the last 3 ½ years to include her incredible team of doctors, nurses, aids of St. Francis Cancer Center, Smilow Cancer Hospital, and hospice team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 am, directly in St. Josephine Bakhita Church, St. Elizabeth Seton Campus, 280 Brook St. Rocky Hill. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call to the Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill, on Thursday from 4-7pm.
