The company and the union met today to discuss a possible special severance offer for our bargaining unit. Both parties expressed their concerns related to opportunities for employees to leave the payroll voluntarily, the impact an offer would have on the current  business environment and the union’s goal of protecting job security for our members  who  remain on the payroll. The union and the company have held Thursday August 15th for a potential follow up session should there be a path to agreement on a special severance offer. We made it clear to the company that we have no interest in concessions during early discussions and are more than willing to meet in formal negotiations to achieve a complete and just agreement for our members.
